House Rules - Holiday Homes at Schloss Melschede Wrede Foundation – Schloss Melschede

Dear Guests!

We want you to feel at home and relax in our holiday homes. We have put a lot of effort into furnishing them and hope that you find everything you need. The following house rules are intended to help ensure a harmonious stay for all residents and neighbors. Additionally, we have listed some rules that we hope you will understand. By treating the property with care, you help us continue to offer satisfactory accommodations to you and other guests in the future. General If you miss anything in the furnishings or need help, please feel free to contact us at Tel. 02935-1328. All items in and around the holiday home belong to and should be used by the guests. Please handle all furnishings and inventory with care and treat the rental property gently. Ensure that your fellow travelers also comply with the rental conditions.

Stove (Schmiede)

The Schmiedehaus is heated by a pellet stove, requiring one bag of pellets per 24 hours in severe cold. You can find the pellets in the storage area to the right of the entrance. The stove can be controlled via the thermostat in the dining area. Alternatively, you can turn off the stove at night (if it is too loud for you) by pressing the switch on the top left of the stove briefly and use the radiator instead. Turn the stove back on using the button on the top right (note that ignition can take up to 15 minutes). If you have any questions about the stove, please do not hesitate to ask us for support!

Stove (Forsthaus)

The stove in the living room is available for your use. We provide firewood in baskets at a price of 5€ per basket. The fireplace in the hallway is out of order and must not be used under any circumstances!

Kitchen

Please treat the kitchen equipment and appliances carefully. Since a dirty kitchen is unpleasant for everyone, please put dishes, pots, and cutlery back in the cupboards only when they are clean and dry. Do not place hot pots and other hot items directly on tables or countertops without a trivet. Always use a cutting board for cutting. Leave the inside of the oven and microwave clean.

Damages

No one intentionally damages things, but accidents can happen. We would appreciate it if you report any damage immediately, rather than waiting for us to discover it during the final cleaning. The tenant is liable for damages up to the cost of replacement, usually offset against the deposit. Ventilation To avoid mold, please ventilate the rooms sufficiently, at least twice a day for 5-10 minutes, especially after showering.

Duty of Care

We ask our guests to treat the rental property with care and ensure that fellow travelers and relatives also comply with the rental conditions. The front door should always be closed and locked with a key when leaving the house. Likewise, all windows should be closed when leaving the apartment to prevent possible damage from weather or burglary. Please use water and electricity sparingly.

Waste Disposal (Schmiede)

Waste is separated into residual waste, glass, paper, and packaging with the green dot. The residual waste container is located in the castle parking lot under the lime tree. Please dispose of your residual waste in the appropriate containers before departure. We will gladly take care of the remaining waste if you leave it by the door in the accommodation. Do not throw or pour any waste, food leftovers, harmful liquids, or similar into the kitchen sink, toilets, washbasins, or shower! We have a biological sewage treatment plant that can be severely damaged otherwise. Avoid anything that can cause blockages in the pipes (no hygiene products in the toilet).

Waste Disposal (Forsthaus)

Waste is separated into residual waste, glass, paper, and packaging with the green dot. The waste containers are located in the shed opposite. Please dispose of your waste in the appropriate containers before departure. Place residual waste and paper waste in the appropriate bins. Hang the yellow sack with packaging waste on a hook on the wall in the shed.

Cleaning

If you make a mess (extreme dirt, liquids on the floor or countertops, etc.), please clean it up immediately. We ask you to leave the holiday home broom-clean upon departure, even though the landlord will arrange a final cleaning. All used dishes should be clean and put back in the cupboards.

Quiet Hours

In the interest of good neighborhood relations, we ask you to observe public quiet hours such as midday, night, and Sunday rest. Also, within the holiday home, quiet should be maintained from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Internet/TV (Schmiede and Forsthaus)

Internet use with your own WLAN-enabled device (notebook, PDA, smartphone, etc.) via the WLAN connection is free of charge for the tenant. You use the internet at your own risk; the landlord excludes any liability in connection with the tenant’s internet use. For using the internet access via WLAN, please also observe the WLAN usage rules. Please keep the TV volume at room level. The WLAN/Internet password can be found in the picture frame at the entrance. Smokers Smoking is not allowed in our holiday apartments. Please leave the holiday home to smoke. Do not smoke at open windows and dispose of your waste in the residual waste.

Pets

Bringing pets is allowed after consultation with the landlords and is subject to a fee per pet/night. Bringing pets without prior registration will lead to the immediate termination of the rental agreement. This includes small animals such as hamsters, budgerigars, etc.

Parking

You can park directly in front of the holiday home and Schloss Melschede. If a parking space is provided to you, no custody agreement is concluded. The landlord is not liable for loss or damage to vehicles parked or maneuvered on the property or their contents, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.

House Rules

For urgent repairs, it may be necessary for the landlord to enter the holiday home without the guest’s knowledge. Keys Never hand over the keys to third parties. Any loss of keys must be reported immediately, and the guest is liable for the replacement costs. Since each key is part of the locking system, the costs for losing a key are not insignificant.

Liability

The landlord is not liable for the guest's valuables. Arrival and Departure Check-in is from 4:00 PM. On the day of departure, we ask our guests to vacate the holiday home by 10:00 AM. The holiday home should be left in the same condition as found upon arrival. By booking the holiday home, we assume that the house rules are acknowledged, at the latest upon occupancy of the home. Thank you for your attention. We wish you a pleasant stay, lots of fun, relaxation, and recuperation in Melschede. If you have any questions, we are happy to help.
